Fight of the Century

This weekend’s fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather gained the title “The Fight of the Century”. Millions of people tuned in across the globe to watch Pacman obliterate an arrogant Mayweather. Unfortunately, Mayweather got the better of Pacman and the battle was won in the 12th round. After Mayweather was announced as the winner the crowd at the MGM arena erupted in boos. Mayweather even jumped on the ropes and beat his chest repeatedly proclaiming, “I told you, I told you!” More than 70% of the audience were Pacquiao hopefuls. He was undeniably the fan favorite for this boxing match. Mayweather went to state how September would be his last official boxing match. There are a lot of people who can’t wait to get this arrogant jerk out of the limelight. It’s no doubt that Floyd Mayweather is good at what he does. He has an impressive string of wins and no losses, but that’s all he has. The airwaves this weekend were full of talk about how well Mayweather did in the ring. Fans like Mark Ahn know that what followed soon after was how most sports announcers hated talking to or about Floyd. His presence outside of the ring has made him the most hated athlete in the world. It’s devastating to see such a capable and brilliant athlete squander his potential. Mayweather may have a spotless winning streak, but his pride will forever be tarnished by his lack of true fandom.

Mayweather VS. Pacquiao

Floyd Mayweather is the best of the best, but how do other boxers and trainers look upon his greatness/ according to many, Mayweather at the age of 19 looked like he had been in the game for 20 years already. His quickness and boxing awareness IQ propelled his career to where it is at right now.
In the 1996 Olympics, Mayweather should have won gold. Everyone who witnessed those games thought he did win gold, the match was corrupt and given to Serafim Todorov. Even when the decision was read, the referee threw up Mayweather’s arm because he clearly had a better match. This of course was on accident but still you get the point that Mayweather had deep potential even from a young age.
Even though he didn’t win the Gold in 1996, he won’t need it after Saturdays match. Around 180 million is up for grabs on May 2nd. Fans like Gianfrancesco Genoso (linkedin.com) know that it will defiantly be a great match up, with Pacquiao having tremendous power and being significantly younger gives him that advantage, but compared to Mayweather’s experience, complicated style and stupendous confidence, it will be one for the books ether way. As you all may know Floyd can switch up his style to accommodate the weakness of his opponent. Even if his opponent has been working on his weakness, Floyd can change up his style mid match to throw off what his opponent has been training for. All in all this could be one of the most impressive and entertaining events of the year and of Mayweather’s career.

Brock Lesner Leaves UFC for WWE

Former UFC fighter Brock Lesner has announces that he will be leaving the UFC for good this year and going to sign a contract with the WWE. According to an article written by Yahoo! sports, Lesner found it to be a very hard decision to make. He really enjoyed fighting mixed martial arts, however his health hasn’t been in the best shape and he wants to be able to have a job that is not so taxing on his body and mindset. Lesner also commented about how he is getting older and needs to make more responsible decisions for his wife and kids, and doesn’t want to put himself in the same risky situations as he did before.

Fans like Brian Torchin know that Lesner started fighting in 2007, and he was a big name in the UFC world as he took on several talented fighters. It took him several months to make the decision to leave the UFC and go over to the WWE, because not only would it make him a happier and healthier person but they gave him a great contract that would be unwise to refuse, money-wise. Even though Lesner won’t be in the same fighting ring anymore, it is safe to say that many of his fans will follow him over to the WWE and watch him perform there for all the crazy fans. Needless to say it is scary to start a new chapter, but he will do fine.
