Michael Smith named MVP of Players All-Star Classic

Running Michael Smith of Utah State was named the Most Valuable Player in the Players All-Star Classic in Little Rock, Arkansas. He helped the North team to a 24-19 win over the South at War Memorial Stadium.

Smith rushed for 124 yards on 12 carries, a 10.3 average which included an 80-yard touchdown run that gave the North a 17-16 lead in the third quarter. He also returned four kickoffs for 105 yards in which he averaged over 26 yards per return.

"It feels great. I'm very blessed for the opportunity to play in this all-star game as well as a bowl game," Smith said. "I'm very thankful that they gave me the chance to play in this game by inviting me, and I just wanted to make the most of it and not take this opportunity for granted."

Smith had a great week of practice and capped it off with a great game on Saturday, many media outlets and scouts thought that his week in Little Rock really improved his stock in the NFL Draft this upcoming April.
