Protecting Public Safety with Securus Technologies Video Visitation

One of the most dangerous jobs in the United States, and around the world, is that of a corrections officer. With budget cuts, the safety of corrections officers on the federal, state, and local level in the United States becomes of a greater concern.

Securus Technologies is an industry leader in a wide array of different technological solutions to aid in the operation of correctional departments. Included in this spectrum of technologies is the Video Visitation solution.

The Securus Technologies Video Visitation system permits an incarcerated offender the ability to have meaningful interaction with friends and family members through virtual visitation. The Securus Technologies Video Visitation system currently is being used in about 178 correctional agencies in the United States at this juncture in time.

A reality of a correctional institution is that the safety of on-duty officers is always at risk. One area in which the risk is heightened is when members of the public are brought into a correctional facility for visitation with offenders.

Correctional officers are faced with task of closely monitoring inmates and visitors. This must be done in close proximity of those involved in visitation.

In addition, during visitation, contraband becomes a problem. Time and again, visitors will smuggle contraband to their inmate loved ones, who in turn bring these items into the institution itself. This can include everything from drugs to mobile phones.

Smuggled contraband puts inmates and correctional officers at risk. However, items like mobile phones also put the community as a whole at risk. In the 21st, incarcerated gang members continue their illegal operations even while incarcerated with the aid of mobile devices smuggled into correctional facilities via in-person visitation.

The use of Video Visitation from Securus Technologies eliminates the potential for contraband smuggling. This result lessens the threat to safety within and without correctional facilities in the United States.

EOS Takes the Lip Balm Market by Storm

For more than 100 years now, Chapstick has dominated the lip balm market. If you had chapped lips, you bought a chapstick in either plain and boring or fruit-flavored. That was until about seven years ago when EOS lip balm hit the shelves and started dominating the lip balm market, starting with Walgreens and then continuing on to take over Ulta, Target and Walmart shelves as well. Then came the magazine coverage and in the natural progression of things, celebs started using EOS lip balms. And, they were big stars, too, like Christina Aguilera, Miley Cyrus, and Kim Kardashian.

Gone are those old boring cylindrical-shaped tubes and here to stay are the pastel-colored orbs that are synonymous with EOS lip balms. So, who is EOS? The company’s full name is Evolution of Smooth and they are quickly becoming very big in their field. However, until now, they had been quite tight-lipped about their strategy for doing business. That was until they gave Fast Company an exclusive interview recently.

EOS told them all about the creation of their $250 million Lip balm company and how it beat out both Blistex and Chapstick to become the nation’s 2nd best selling lip balm. They are currently second only to Burt’s Bees, and all three have been around a lot longer than EOS. Could they be destined to take over the #1 slot? Quite possibly. In fact, according to Kline Research, EOS has been responsible for singlehandedly driving growth in the field of oral care by selling one million EOS lip balms per week. So, it would seem that the combination of organic ingredients, a newer more modern shape and yummy tropical flavors have become a big hit.

The Best NBA players in the Current Season

Let me count the ways to explain what makes up my shortlist of the very best center in the NBA; first, does he bring it every night rain, sleet and snow; better yet, is he as reliable as your mailman or mailwoman? You can not start this list without Lebron James, without a doubt the very best and most valuable player in the entire league.

The man has been to six straight NBA Finals, yes six straight. With two different teams! And won with both teams! Who else has done that? Not Michael Jordan or anyone other candidate for best player in the NBA.

Not to mention the fact he’s experienced every feeling in the Finals from being swept in ’07 by the Spurs to beating those same Spurs with Ray Allen’s step back three.

I rest my case. Now filling out my top five squad. I have to put Russell Westbrook for no other reason is he’s doing something right in front of our eyes that no one from this generation or the last two have seen. Averaging a triple double playing as hard as possible on a mediocre team. Kudos to Russ. And filling out my squad is James Harden from the Rockets, Kawhi Leonard a true two way beast and my man Boogie, Demarcus Cousins. I’ll take those five against any five in the league.
